Fashion Styling (1 week)

In this one-week course, you will research and understand how fashion styling is the modern way of storytelling. Fashion plays a key role in how we perform identity and tell our stories. Looking at cinematography and nature, we will explore how a fashion image is made. Fashion is much more than clothes; it’s also about the stories we tell of our identities.

Be taught by experienced fashion and design professionals who bring valuable industry knowledge and real-world insight to every session.

Through research into fashion magazines, cinematography, and fashion collections, you’ll discover how styling communicates identity, culture, and personal stories. You’ll also learn how to identify emerging trends and create, style and photograph your own fashion looks.

LEARN FROM ART AND DESIGN PROFESSIONALS
Our lecturers are all working professionals who will spend time, sharing their industry level knowledge that underpins the teaching at all levels in the college. Students enjoy 30 hours of tuition comprised of lectures and creative practical workshops working towards a final exhibition.

BROADEN YOUR SKILLS IN THE INDUSTRY
Through research from magazines, cinematography and fashion collections you will learn how fashion styling plays a key role in how we showcase who we are in society and what each person’s fashion choice depicts about them as an individual. You will also learn how to spot future fashion trends through research and fashion imagery and learn to style and shoot your own looks.

ACTIVITIES AND EXCURSIONS
Students enjoy a variety of evening activities each week designed to be fun, interactive and provide our students with the opportunity to socialise and make new friends. One full day excursion each week allows students to really get to know the UK. We use major destinations such as London as a classroom, where students will enjoy creative and cultural experiences through guided walks and visits to museums and other places of interest.

PROGRESSION AT CSVPA
Completion of the course can enable progression on to our University of the Arts London Awarding Body Extended Diploma or Foundation Diploma courses (if you meet the UAL entry criteria for the course).

PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS
This course is taught in English, and students are asked to communicate with each other in English, giving our international students the perfect opportunity to practice their English speaking, listening, writing and reading skills.

COURSE OUTCOMES

You will discover how we can use fashion imagery and styling of clothing to tell stories.

You will learn how fashion magazines use narrative to discover new trends.

You will develop a deeper understanding of how fashion imagery is made and then use those processes to create your own.

14-18 years old

Who is it for
The course is aimed at any student aged 14 to 18 years who is interested in Fashion Styling. Completion of the course can enable progression on to our University of the Arts London Awarding Body Extended Diploma or Foundation Diploma courses.

English Level
International students should have at least an Upper Intermediate level of English
