Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts (CSVPA) and Hearst UK, the leading premium content and experience business, are delighted to announce the winner of the “Access All Areas” Scholarship with Cosmopolitan.

Flynn Gaisie has been awarded a fully-funded scholarship to study the BA (Hons) Graphics & Illustration at CSVPA. This scholarship is worth up to £75,000 and will include tuition, CSVPA accommodation, all meals, and a minimum two-week internship, including travel expenses up to £700. Flynn will be starting this autumn.

Flynn Gaisie, 22, is a passionate and talented creative. He has recently completed a six-month apprenticeship with Angel Analytics and Research LD as a Junior Graphic Designer/Illustrator through the UK government kickstart scheme. He has always wanted to work in illustration and animation and is eagerly seeking a career in the creative arts industry.

A child of an African Black British father and white South African mother, Flynn was born and raised in the UK until his family moved to South Africa in 2005. He has completed several creative industry work placements before moving to the UK permanently in 2020.

Matt Hayes, Chief International Brand Officer, Hearst UK, says:  “We are proud to offer Flynn this fully-funded “Access All Areas” scholarship and to welcome him to the Cosmopolitan team this year. At Cosmopolitan, we are committed to helping everyone grow their skills and talent by creating opportunities regardless of background and prior experience.”

Chris Stacey, CEO, CATS Global Schools says: “Flynn’s ability and tenacity shone through his impressive application. This scholarship is all about opening opportunities to young talent who feel they may come from low-income and underrepresented groups in our society. Although British, Flynn was not entitled to student finance because he lived in South Africa for 12 years. We are delighted to award Flynn with the scholarship and this unprecedented opportunity.”

Karin Askham, Rector, CSVPA, says:“We were struck by both Flynn’s talent and commitment to his education and ongoing learning. He has illustrated impressive tenacity, relocating to the UK during the challenges of the Covid pandemic and securing an impressive apprenticeship at Angel Analytics. We look forward to welcoming him at CSVPA this year.”

The CSVPA courses are specifically designed to give students the skills that the creative industries really need, underlining the school’s commitment to a high-quality learning experience geared to the demands of a fast-changing and leading industry.

The CSVPA Cosmopolitan “Access All Areas” Scholarship 2021 launched in May 2021.   The scholarship is worth up to £75,000 and will include tuition to study their chosen course (Extended Diploma, Foundation, BA Hons, or MA) in September 2021, CSVPA accommodation, all meals, and a minimum of a two-week internship including travel expenses up to £700 starting in September 2021.
