COMMUNITY USAGE

Following an extensive refurbishment, the st matthew’s centre on sturton street now offers a fantastic site for education in the creative and performing arts, in particular dance.

  • 14 separate studios.
  • 7 of them fitted with specialist Harlequin flooring.
  • A central performance area of over 1800 sq ft able to house seating for around 100 people and a stage.
A built in sound system with multiple speakers in every single studio to ensure excellent music provision.

COMMUNITY USE

As the long-term tenant, we have already invited a number of local community dance groups in to use our new studio space, and their feedback has been excellent. We are hoping to develop our links with the local community by opening to a wider audience of local dance or other performing arts groups, and would therefore be delighted to hear from anyone who runs or is involved with such groups. To ensure that the local community fully benefits from the centre’s use, we particularly want to work with not-for-profit groups based in the Petersfield area, who deliver performing arts courses to either children or adults.  We have allocated 3 studios specifically for community use during the hours listed below.

OPENING TIMES FOR COMMUNITY USE

  • Monday to Friday 6pm to 10pm
  • Weekends 9am to 5pm

To encourage local groups to come and try it out we won’t be charging for use of the centre between this date and the end of December. From January 2018 we will charge a nominal amout in line with other local spaces.

For more information about how to book access to the space and for a copy of the terms and conditions of use, please email Amber Christie at: sturtonstreception@csvpa.com or download our booking form.
