I’ve been to about ten different schools all over the world – Sweden, Hong Kong, Turkey, America, Africa, but CSVPA is my favourite. 

I like Cambridge – it’s much more vibrant and less stuffy than I was expecting. 

I came here to study A Levels but transferred to the Art Foundation course as it would get me to my chosen university faster and it’s much more specialised. I chose this college as it has the best reputation for art courses and it was the only one doing Foundation Programmes at high school.

At every other school I have been to, I’ve had to wear a school uniform and everything is “Yes, sir, no, sir.” But here learning is fun. Chris Maughan is more like a friend than a teacher – he’s a father away from home and he keeps in constant contact with my parents to keep me on track. 

My favourite thing about CSVPA is my Personal Tutor and Photography teacher – she inspired me to do photography and is the best teacher I have ever had. She also helps me solve problems; she helped me with my UCAS application and is just somebody to talk to. Being here is like being part of a family. 

Emelie is studying an Art Foundation Course at CSVPA. She is hoping to go to Kingston University to do a degree in Photography and then to complete a Master’s degree in Photojournalism.
