At CSVPA our lecturers are all practising artists, designers and practitioners, with UK and International experience. For example, our Fine Art Tutor is Artist in Residence at Christ's College Cambridge; our Drama Voice Lecturer was Voice Coach for the Royal Shakespeare Company's recent production of Hamlet, and our Head of Fashion has designed for Top Shop and H&M amongst others.

Christopher Maughan, MSIAD
Chris is Head of CSVPA, a professional designer-maker and teaches Theatre Arts.
"I have been exhibiting as a visual artist since I was 14 years old gaining my first commission at the age of 15. High profile clients include Saatchi and Saatchi and the BBC and of many TV characters the most notable is Nobby the Sheep!
I am now Head of Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts and also manage the provision of A level Art at our academic sister college, CATS Cambridge.
What I you enjoy most about CSVPA is helping students fulfil their artistic ambitions with a team of dedicated and experienced tutors."

Kevin Hart
Kevin is a Fine Artist with twenty years experience of teaching in Higher Education. Previous roles include senior lecturer for MA Communication Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
He has exhibited work widely in both group and solo exhibitions at venues such as the National Army Museum in Chelsea, Lethaby Gallery in Holborn, Mall Galleries in Pall Mall and Great Saint Mary's Church in Cambridge. His work has been published by Reed International, Mitchell Beazley and Bloomsbury Books.

Tiina Burton
Tiina graduated with a first class honours degree from London College of Fashion and has been designing and making clothes since she was very young. As well as working in the fashion department at CSVPA, Tiina runs her own online business selling clothing and photographic prints.
She specialises in ethical clothing, using reclaimed or organic materials with natural dyes and her clothing has been shown inthe 'Nautical but nice' exhibition at the Cambridge Museum of Technology. Her photography has been exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in London and at the Pocket Utopia gallery in New York.

Richard Bray, BA Photographic Arts; MA Fine Arts; ARBS
Richard is a widely exhibited and commissioned sculptor. He recently co-operated with scientists to produce work for the Wellcome Trust Genome campus. He teaches Photography, Sculpture and Contextual Studies at CSVPA.

Jane Herzog, MA Fashion
Jane trained in fashion design at UCA Epsom, graduating in 1981. She has more than 15 years' experience as a fashion designer for most high street fashion retailers including Top Shop, Miss Selfridge, H&M and Marks & Spencer. She worked as a fashion designer from 1981 until 1997 and has been lecturing since 1997.

John Blackman, MA Illustration
John has worked in the UK and internationally as a commercial freelance Illustrator/Designer for over 20 years, serving clients such as Penguin Books, Harper Collins, BBC, Random House, Oxford University Press, Dutton, Ladybird,Scholastics, Usborne, Procter & Gamble, Cadbury Schwepps, Virgin Airways, Macmillan, The Observer, Speedo, Co-op and Cambridge University Press.
He joined CSVPA in 2001 and has seen many students grow into successful graphic designers and illustrators within the supportive environment of CSVPA.

Mandy Doyle
Mandy studied at Camberwell College of Art & Design, part of the University of the Arts London group, and has worked as a successful freelance illustrator for 23 years.
Her work has been commissioned by most of the leading publishers in the country and includes high level advertising projects in a range of media. Her love of illustration led her to the MA course in Childern's Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University and her work in the local community includes workshops and exhibitions at venues such as Cambridge Corn Exchange.

Issam Kourbaj
Issam is a sculptor, painter and theatre designer based in Cambridge. He studied in Damscus under the well-known Syrian artist Fateh Moudarres (d.1999), before completing his training in St Petersburg and London.
Some of his work is in the collections of the Department of Middle East and the Department of Prints & Drawings of the British Museum; he has exhibited on three continents.
Since 1989 he has lived in Cambridge and is now a Bye-Fellow at Christ's College and Artist in Residence there. For the past five years his work has drawn inspiration from the world of science.
Applied Craft & Theatre Arts Lecturer
Kat Hunter
Kat is a practising jewellery designer with a background in make-up and special effects for theatre and television. She has been working in the professional make up industry for the last 3 years. Her specialisation ranges from historical and cultural origins of make up to contemporary fashion, film and theatre effects. She is trained in specialist casting and prosthetic production specifically working with resin, foam and silicone.
Kat has also been a practicing jeweller for 8 years and has exhibited at New Designers and Pewter Live. She has won a number of commissions including one from the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and a precious metal bursary from Goldsmiths. Kat's speciality as a jeweller is in small scale silver fabrication in combination with resins and recycled materials.

Beth Lambert
Beth currently words for 5th Studio Architects, an award winning practice based in Cambridge and London. She completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Architecture at the University of the Creative Arts, where her final thesis project was nominated for the national Presidents Medals award.
Product Design Lecturer
Stephen Reed
Stephen's designs have appeared in international exhibitions, books and magazines. Nominated for the Young Designer of the Year in 2006. Completed a commissioned permanent exhibition for London's Somerset House.
Theatre Arts Lecturer
Stefanie Muller
Stefanie studied at the University of Basel and trained at Jacques Lecoq's International School of Theatre in Paris, where she also attended it's L.E.M (Laboratoire Etude de Movement = Study of the moving body and architectural structures in space). Since co-founding Hoipolloi in 1994, Stefanie has designed and performed in all but one of the company's productions, touring throughout the UK as well as internationally. Stefanie has also designed and co-directed Hoipolloi's recent award-winning collaborations with Hugh Hughes – Floating, Story of a Rabbit and 360. Stefanie presently works as a freelance Set designer, Theatre Director and as Actress all over Europe.

Renata Grant BA(Hons) Editorial Photography, MA Photographic Studies
A practising photographer for 15 years, Renata has worked both commercially as a commissioned photographer and extensively with young people of all backgrounds in finding outlets for their expressive/creative urge. She is a founder member of the MAPS collective which regularly exhibits in the East of England. Her mixed media work upon environmental themes was nominated for the Citibank Photography Prize. Renata’s recent exhibitions have been of a conceptual nature, using digital reinterpretation of traditional photographic processes to explore how we use photographic images as part of our memory/identity assimilation.

Cassandra Bradnack BA Design Crafts: MA Arts Management
Cassandra studied a Fine Art Diploma at Cambridge Regional College and specialised in Ceramic Sculpture. She went on to study a BA in Design Crafts at De Montfort University where she concentrated on Ceramics and Glass. Cassandra is a practicing Ceramicist specialising in porcelain slipware design and she creates various styles of slip cast vessels which are marbled with contrasting tones. Cassandra’s vessels and installations have been sold at New Designers, London and in various galleries around the UK. Cassandra went on to study an Arts Management MA at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. This has given her a rounded perspective on the business side of the arts world.

Louise is an experienced designer/pattern cutter/maker with a diverse international background that includes industrial experience designing for John Lewis and House of Fraser and the creation of individually crafted garments for specialised outlets, whilst living in the Netherlands and Belgium

Joanne is a womenswear designer with over 8 year’s experience. She has a Master’s from the Royal College of Art and has worked as a Senior Freelance Designer at ASOS and Zara as well as worked at Burberry

Victoria has a Masters from the Royal College of Art, London and a degree in Graphic Design from Camberwell College of Art, London. She is a part time lecturer for UAL Art & Design Foundation
And has worked freelance for Marks and Spencer’s Limited Collection and also Whitestuff London.

Pattern Cutter Lecturer MA Fashion Woman’s Wear
BA in Fashion Design from Hong Kong Polytechnic, an MA from the Royal College of Art and a Postgraduate Certificate in Creative Pattern Cutting. He has worked for Betty Jackson, author of Common Sense in Pattern Cutting he is Currently working for ASOS and the London College of Fashion, where he is the course director.

Suzanne Allen
Theatre Arts Lecturer
After studying Theatre Costumes at Wimbledon School of Art in 1987, Suzanne has worked for a variety of Ballet, Opera, Theatre and Dance companies in London and abroad (including the BBC and Royal Opera House) as a Wardrobe Mistress, Wardrobe Supervisor, Freelance Costumier, Milliner and Wigmaker.

Jean Stewart BA(Hons) Drama RSAMD, MA Voice Central School of Speech & Drama
Jean teaches acting on the Drama Foundation bringing with her more than 20 years of professional experience.
Jean trained at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) and Glasgow University. She has worked in theatre in education both here and in Europe (Spain and Germany) for over twenty years. She has experience working in community theatre with adults and in developing new writing for young people through the National Theatre Connexions programme, working on plays such as Friendly Fire by Peter Gill. More recently Jean acted with Menagerie Theatre Company during their 2006 season of New Writing.
Jean has been director of the drama foundation for four years and teaches the acting element of the course. She has directed a diverse number of plays throughout her career most recently Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor, Gogal's The Government Inspector and The Threepenny Opera in the summer of 2008 for the Drama Foundation programme.

Rebecca Cuthbertson M.A. Voice Central School of Speech and Drama
Rebecca has most recently coached the London production of the Shakespeare/Fletcher play 'Double Falsehood' and the YPS production of 'Hamlet' at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and past coaching included John & Jen (Finborough Theatre), A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer (London Premier). Rebecca has also worked at East 15 School of Acting and as a freelance voice, text and dialect coach.
Movement Lecturer
Christopher Lane
Christopher is the lead movement lecturer at CSVPA and also a freelance theatre director. His recent directing credits include the London production of the Off-Broadway musical Bright Lights Big City (UK premiere), You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (The Junction, Cambridge), the UK premiere of Andrew Lippa’s John & Jen at the Finborough Theatre in London, and the workshop of the new musical They Shoot Horses Don’t They?
Christopher also directs for several UK drama schools and ran I-BEAM Educational Theatre in Ontario, Canada from 2000 to 2005. With this company he wrote, produced and directed several acclaimed productions including The Diary, and Bullyproof.
In London, Christopher was the assistant director for Opera Holland Park’s 2009 production of Tosca, directed by Stephen Barlow and he assisted on a workshop production of Troilus and Cressida for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in 2005. In addition to this, Christopher was the assistant director for a production of Private Lives at The Red Barn Theatre in Toronto, and also acted as the casting assistant for their 2003 season.
Christopher’s work as an actor in the greater Toronto area spans thirty years and he holds numerous stage credits as well as film and television experience. He trained in Canada, and at London’s Central School of Speech and Drama graduating with a master’s degree in directing in 2005.

Singing Instructor/Music Director
Recent performance credits include the US National Tour of Sweet Charity (Asst Conductor), US National and International tours of Fosse (Asst Conductor) and the European tour of Hair-the Love and Rock Musical (Asst Conductor). Elizabeth has also musically directed and played piano for many regional productions in Canada, the US and the UK and vocally coached many successful Broadway singers.

Sarah Goodbourn
Sarah has been playing flute for 20 years and has a licentiate diploma in performance on this instrument. Sarah studied a Bachelor of Music at the Conservatorium of Music in Melbourne. She majored in performance and teaching and gained honours in all subjects. She took lessons in Scotland and England when she graduated and then went back to Australia to complete her Diploma of Education. Sarah received first-class honours and dux of her year.
Sarah has taught instrumental lessons for about 10 years (flute, piano and recorder) and has performed with orchestras and jazz groups in Melbourne. She now performs with the Kings College Orchestra and other chamber groups around Cambridge.

Vivian Choi DMA MMus(Lond) LRSM
Vivian studied music at the Royal College of Music and King's College in London, and holds a Doctorate from State University of New York at Stony Brook. She has won many awards as a pianist, including the Washington International Competition for Pianists and has performed in the UK, Far East, USA and Europe to favourable reviews.

Michael Barnes
Michael has fifteen years experience of performing drums and percussion on international pop tours, in orchestras and jazz bands, and in theatre productions. He has worked with and alongside some great musicians and big names, such as Ian Dury and the Blockheads, The Real Thing, and the cast of BBC TV's "Eastenders". He also has ten years of teaching experience, throughout which he has taught extensively in schools and colleges and from his own purpose-built studio. Michael has had a number of students who have themselves gone on to become professional musicians.
David Walker
Music Technology Lecturer
Dave has an honours degree in Music Technology. He has been producing music and composing since he was 12. Not only producing his own material, he has done a variety of remixes for American hip hop artists and continues to do so in his spare time
Bruce Cameron LTCL
Guitar and Improvisation Tutor
Bruce has a Performer's Diploma on Guitar and teaches Classical, Acoustic, Rock and Pop, Jazz, Flamenco etc. He studied for a time with the legendary Paco Pena and currently specialises in solo guitar performance. Students can take exams in Rock, Acoustic and Classical. He is also a professional saxophonist and runs his own jazz group which has entertained celebrities and Royals and also runs a Bossa Nova trio. Other bands at present include a Pat Metheny style fusion band, an African band playing original music and a soul/funk band.
