Drama Summer School

The Drama Summer School is ideal for...
Students at all levels of acting ability, who want a fun introduction to Drama or Theatre Studies.
About the course...
- Intensive classes with professional artists (35-40 hours per week)
- Evening social activities included
- 1 full day excursion included per week
- No English lessons included.
What will I study?
Our two-week Summer Schools introduce a range of different drama techniques in a fun, safe and active environment. They will also improves your confidence, self-esteem and communication skills.
You can choose the area of theatre that appeals to you most, or, if you are considering a career in drama, you can extend your range by trying a number of different disciplines.
The first week of each specialism focuses on building towards a performance, which takes place during the second week. Students can attend the first or both weeks, but cannot join the performance for the second week only.
2012 Summer School Options:
» Musical Theatre
This popular, fun and challenging course is led by theatre professionals, all of whom have musical theatre credits in London and / or New York. Students can expect 35-40 hours of rigorous and intensive classes per week in singing, dance and acting, geared towards a cabaret-style performance at the end of the second week.
Course dates: 01-14 July or 28-12 August
» Acting / Physical Theatre
This two-week course is ideal for students who want an intensive and fun introduction to drama and acting techniques. In the first week, professional actors lead students through drama exercises designed to help develop creativity, spontaneity, freedom and authenticity in performance. In the second week, the ensemble work together to rehearse a short production, performed for an invited audience.
International students should have at least an Upper Intermediate level of English and can choose to combine their specialist weeks with separate weeks of Intensive English.

Learn from professional, RADA qualified theatre practitioners
All our lecturers are performance specialists who have ongoing professional experience within the theatre industry, both in the UK and internationally. They use their skills and experience to develop students both personally and professionally.
We also deliver a 3-term Drama Foundation programme in association with RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art). Our Foundation students progress to many of the best Drama Schools in the UK and overseas, including RADA, LAMDA, Bristol Old Vic, RSAMD, Mountview Academy and The American Academy of Dramatic Art

Singing Teacher
His work as an actor spans thirty years and he holds numerous stage credits as well as film and television experience. He trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama completing an MA in Directing in 2005.
His directing credits include the autumn 2010 UK premiere of the musical Bright Lights, Big City (This Stage Ltd, Hoxton Hall), john & jen (UK premiere. Finborough Theatre), A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer by Eve Ensler (London premiere), A Devilish Exercise: Conjuring Marlowe at the Rose (The Rose Theatre Trust), Timon (a site-specific adaptation of Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens), and Beckett’s Shorts (an anthology of Samuel Beckett).
Christopher is a visiting lecturer for the Central School of Speech and Drama and has extensive lecturing credits from his native Canada. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a BA (Hons) in History.
