What makes our MA unique?

  • We are a dedicated art college where students from all over the world, across all art and design subjects interact.  This builds a dynamic community of creative individuals bringing both opportunities and contacts globally.
  • Our MA Art & Design gives students the flexibility to study any Art & Design pathway within one MA course, whether your specialism is Fashion Design, Fashion Promotion or Fashion Styling, Interior Design, 3D Design, Communication Design, Ceramics, Jewellery, Fine Art, Photography, Illustration, Film Making or Animation…
  • By offering a range of specialist subject areas in one MA, you will interact daily with students across a range of disciplines giving you the unique experience to expand and enrich your ideas.
  • Our studios and workshops enhance this experience with the combination of a shared central MA studio (a home hub) as well as dedicated space within your specialised subject area to enhance and expand your knowledge and skills.
  • You will have your own guaranteed individual workspace, offering you flexibility on where you study.  This is unique to CSVPA.
  • We provide our MA students with the majority of materials, so you don’t have to worry about any hidden extra costs.  We provide:
    • free colour printing
    • all calico for toiles
    • pattern cutting paper and card
    • various fabrics for set projects
    • basic interlinings
    • screen printing with inks and foils
    • fabric dyes
    • non-precious metals
    • all ceramic provisions including clay, casting materials and plywood
  • Our staff are visible and accessible 5 days week, whether that is in your lectures, when you are in your specialist area or when you are in independent study time.

  • Unlike other MAs, where students only have the opportunity to spend 2 or 3 days in studio and are then expected to work independently at home, you will spend time in your specialist subject area with access to your specialist tutor every day.
  • On average, the student to staff ratio is 1 lecturer to 15 students.  This allows us to provide you with one-on-one support in class as well as in your weekly timetabled tutorials with your subject specialist tutor.
  • You will spend more time in your specialist subject area than most MA programmes.
  • Most MA programmes require completion of an independent dissertation with only intermittent support from lecturers. In our MA, you will write around 3,000 words per semester, based on your project goal with dedicated support from your tutors.
  • Our campus is located in the heart of Cambridge, a vibrant cosmopolitan city which welcomes an eclectic mix of creative minds, confident personalities and a never ending list of talent.  With outstanding architecture, history and art, this University City is the perfect location in which to develop creative and passionate students.
